Ten things you should know about US Memorial day

The last Monday of May is the US federal festival "Memorial Day."  On the same day, the United States halved the flag to commemorate the fallen soldiers.  The family members and the righteous trade unions of the fallen soldiers went to the local cemetery to insert a small national flag in front of each tombstone.

I summed up the ten events of Memorial Day to help you understand this festival.

 1. After the American Civil War, people began to pay homage to these fallen soldiers every year.  The city that first announced the festival was Waterloo, New York.  On May 5, 1866, the city of Waterloo first identified this day as a day to commemorate the sacrifice of soldiers.

 2. In 1971, the US Congress officially announced that the federal holiday was scheduled for the last Monday of May.

 3. "The Memorial Day" was originally written to commemorate the soldiers who died in the Civil War (1861 - 1865).

 4. The Civil War was the worst war in the history of the United States, with approximately 620,000 American soldiers killed.  The total number of American soldiers who died in other wars was 644,000.

 5. In addition to Memorial Day, some states in the United States still have their own anniversaries, such as Mississippi on the last Monday in April, Alabama on the fourth Monday in April, and Georgia.  On April 26th, South Carolina and North Carolina were celebrated on May 10th and Louisiana on June 3rd.

 6. The red Poppies became a symbol of remembrance of the sacrificed soldiers.  During the festival, people will wear beautiful flowers and remember the soldiers.

 7. "Remembrance Day" was originally called "Decoration Day", the day when the tribute flowers were decorated for the graves of fallen soldiers.

 8. On December 28, 2000, President Bill Clinton signed the National Remembrance Time Act, which designated 3 pm on the day of Memorial Day as the national commemoration time.

 9. Every year, "The Memorial Day", there are traditional parades in various places, more representative of the "Death Memorial Day" parade in Washington, DC, with the "Harley" motorcycle team.

 10. It is coincidental that the number of people attending the first Arlington National Cemetery Memorial Day is as many as 5,000, as many as the ones attending the ceremony in Arlington.
